Materials selection
Policy Statement:
Leo's Library Services at the Bonham Academy Library provides media services to support an enrich the curriculum and fulfill the needs of students and teachers. The library collects and maintains print, audiovisual, and electronic materials and resources in order to meet the informational educational, cultural and recreational needs of our community. The inclusion of material does not imply agreement with or approval of the works’ content. Newly acquired books show varied points of view on different topics and meet the wide-ranging needs and interests of the diverse school community.

Policy Specifics:
Students in Kinder and 1st have a one week check out. Students in Kinder are not allowed to take books home. Parents are not allowed to check out books for their children. Students in grades 1 -8 may check out two books at a time. Teacher permission required if students would like to check out more books.
Weeding Materials
Policy Statement:
Leo's Library Services continually reviews, evaluates and weeds (CREW) the collection systematically to maintain a current, relevant and healthy collection.
Policy Specifics:
Materials are removed if they are damaged and cannot be repaired, the resource is out of date or has inaccurate data or is not historically or culturally significant, newer more complete authoritative sources are available, or more desirable formats are added to the collection.

Challenges to materials
Policy Statement:
Leo's Library Services' sound book selection policy takes care to acquires books that have literary merit and are worthwhile for students. However, community members may have occasional objections to a book based on how they treat minorities, ideologies of love, or use of language for example. Any community member may challenge a work.
Policy Specifics:
A community member must submit a complaint to the principal, who will convene a consideration committee. The committee will make a decision and inform the complainant. If the complainant is not satisfied with the decision, they can appeal to the SAISD Education Resource Selection Reconsideration Committee.
